Deep ruby-red coloured wine, of excellent structure, harmonious and slightly tannic. Excellent with red meat dishes, seasoned cheeses and game.

Intense ruby red colour, a full-bodied wine with intense fruity perfumes, with soft, supple tannins and a long finish. Excellent with Mediterranean pasta and grilled red meat.

It has aromas and flavours suggestive of blackberries, raspberries, purple plums, vanilla pod, cigar-box and liquorice. On the palate there is a dense core of bright, ripe, mouth-filling fruit which is supported by an ample tannins.

The palate is generously full and fruity with plush velvety tannins that lead on to a lingering tangy aftertaste. While ready to drink on release we expect this wine to improve for several years and live for well over a decade with careful cellaring.

Upon release the wine is bright ruby in colour. There is a teasing array of vibrant red fruit on the nose including raspberry, pomegranate, cherry and plum. Spice and herbal notes, as well as a savoury underlay, add to the wine's complexity. While the palate has generous fruit weight and velvety tannins, it is balanced with refreshing acidity and a structure that gives the wine classic North Canterbury tension and pinosity.

The wine has a bright lemon hue. In the bouquet and flavour there is a complex intertwining of fruity and savoury elements. There are impressions of citrus fruits, white peaches, nectarines and greengages overlying nuances of smoky bacon, grilled mushrooms and barbequed sweet corn.

The climate of the Barossa Valley is not dissimilar to the warm, dry regions of Europe where the origins of the Grenache can be traced. The region is held in very high regard for this varietal and boasts some of the oldest vines in Australia. The 2024 Bin 21 release immediately captivates with a bright and alluring perfume of floral notes and exotic spice. With fruit sourced from Barossa Valley and McLaren Vale, it delivers a harmonious balance of freshness and structure. A distinctive minerality immediately strikes the palate, a signature of the terroirs from which this Grenache hails. The acid is crunchy and invigorating, laying the foundation for a blend of red fruits that dance across the palate. Blueberry tart brings a balance of sweetness and acidity. The texture of the palate is notable, with papery tannins, suggesting an elegant and refined structure. These fine tannins contribute to the wine's mouthfeel, providing a satisfying chewiness without overpowering the delicate fruit profile. This wine is a testament to the varietal's potential for both finesse and power, capturing the essence of its origins, offering a tasting experience that is both refreshing and complex.

Bin 23 derives its name from Cellar 23 at Magill Estate, where Pinot Noir barriques are often stored during maturation. Reflecting an evolving style, regional definition, and complexities of the many and varied Pinot Noir clones, Bin 23 Pinot Noir is an elegant, lighter-bodied inclusion in the Penfolds Collection. The 2024 vintage reveals vibrant raspberry fruits, savoury charcuterie nuances and bright acidity, framed by fine texture and cool-climate precision. Sourced from Tasmania, where ideal conditions yield grapes of purity and distinction. A savoury, cured meat quality enhances the wine's structure, providing a textural mouthfeel, while a tannic core of graphite provides further backbone. The fruit profile is both refined and elegant, showcasing an array of dark berries, fresh plums, and stone fruits. The wine's youthfulness is highlighted by bright white raspberry and tart cranberry. The acidity is crisp and lively.

Bin 389 is often referred to as 'Baby Grange', in part because components of the wine are matured in the same barrels that held the previous vintage of Grange. Exemplifying the judicious balance of fruit and oak, Bin 389 highlights the generous mid-palate Penfolds is known for. The 2023 release leaves a lasting impression of power and elegance - layered and balanced, with rich dark fruits, supple tannins, and a long, savoury finish. A thoughtful blend of varietals. The inclusion of Cabernet Sauvignon provides impeccable structure and depth. Supporting this foundation, Shiraz adds weight and warmth. Bin 707 is a perfect Cabernet Sauvignon representation of Penfolds House Style: intensely flavoured fruit, with the completion of fermentation and maturation in new oak. Like Grange, it is a blend of the best Cabernet fruit from the vintage. The 2023 vintage is a rich and commanding wine, its palate saturated with dark fruit flavours with notes of dark chocolate, spice and savoury depths. An expansive, full-bodied wine with proven transformation in the cellar. A first impression reveals that this release is not overtly fruit-dependent, although blackberry and mulberry fruits are instantly detected. Perhaps more of a savoury/earthy disposition, augmented by pan juices/jus and black olive, and laced with exotic spices (African/Moroccan)... turmeric, bay leaf and pimento. Temptingly, (couverture) dark chocolate crackle/Copha flavours combine with the praline and nuttiness of barrel-fermentation. An expansive, woven palate conveys this vinous deliciousness, with a positive tension assisted by seamless Cabernet tannins, that are at once granular, sleek. Structure and flavours are both sophisticated and complex... masterfully conjured and showcased via this noble variety, Cabernet Sauvignon.
