You can only drink so many beers in a lifetime, so you better make each one count. That's where Epic can help. Because at Epic they're obsessed with creating big hop-fuelled beers. This takes a shed-load of skill. It also takes a shed-load of hops. In fact there are 25 crammed into each can of Pale Ale. Many brewers would call this 'insane'. They call it flavour.

Epic's third collaboration with AJ Hackett for the NZIPA Challenge held at Smiths Craft Beer House in Queenstown. The rules for this challenge are to be a new beer using only New Zealand ingredients. Even though they haven't put it on the label Epic have used 100% organic NZ grown barley and organic NZ grown Nelson Sauvin hops. They wanted to make a tasty and delicious, yet highly drinkable beer which celebrates the best NZ organic ingredients they could get hold of. Even though it is hoppy, it isn't crazy hoppy like some of Epic's other beers. It is 7.2% and it still has a fair amount of hops in the aroma and flavour.

It's gotta be big! A dozen years of Garage Project demands a big beer. 12th Anniversary Belgian Style Quad - brewed using a massive complex grist of barley, rye, dark candi sugar and a special Belgian yeast. This is a huge beer, boasting an enormous rich dried fig, fruit cake and toffee pop malt palate, overlaid with complex spicy top notes and warming alcohol. Go big or go home. Let's hit the road. All India Permit, brewed with pilsner, wheat and crystal oats matched with tropical Mosaic hops, a subtle touch of anardana (pomegranate seed) amchoor (dried green mango) tamarind and Indian spices. Take your taste buds on a trip.

Old school ESB, fresh from the Valley. Mouth watering juicy bitterness, beautifully balanced with big chewy biscuit and toffee malt character and finished with lifted orange citrus and floral hop aroma. Does it get any more wholesome than this?

Rye's a bastard to brew with, but after a remarkable 8 years ageing in bourbon barrels, not only is all forgiven, but this beer has been transformed. Rich at its inception, it's now developed an astonishing vanilla oak and spirit complexity like a fine madeira. It's a bastard, but it's worth it.

It couldn't be simpler. Pilsner malt, Saaz hops and Czech yeast. That's it. Sometimes simple is exactly what you want. Why bother dressing it up? It is what it is. Beer.
