Deep purple in colour with ripe intense berry fruit and meaty characters, supported by intense sweet oak and complex yeast notes. A brooding dense palate, well-structured with ripe dark fruits and silky ripe tannins. Plush & lingering.

Dense in colour with loads of ripe red fruits, black pepper, and spicy oak aromatics. The palate is loaded with rich red plum and wild berry fruits, and shows well balanced tannin and a silky smooth yet savoury mouth feel.

Deep purple and violet in glass, the nose presents well with darker florals, a touch of cassis, pepper spice and with a lovely dark spiced plum floating in the background. To taste the palate is supple and elegantly managed with gentle tannin and a long savoury spice finish with a hint of spice.

Ruby-red coloured wine, with pleasant fruity aromas and delicate sweet notes, well balanced, soft and round in the mouth. Perfect with savoury pasta, red meat and fresh cheeses.

Deep ruby-red coloured wine, of excellent structure, harmonious and slightly tannic. Excellent with red meat dishes, seasoned cheeses and game.

Intense ruby red colour, a full-bodied wine with intense fruity perfumes, with soft, supple tannins and a long finish. Excellent with Mediterranean pasta and grilled red meat.

It has aromas and flavours suggestive of blackberries, raspberries, purple plums, vanilla pod, cigar-box and liquorice. On the palate there is a dense core of bright, ripe, mouth-filling fruit which is supported by an ample tannins.

The palate is generously full and fruity with plush velvety tannins that lead on to a lingering tangy aftertaste. While ready to drink on release we expect this wine to improve for several years and live for well over a decade with careful cellaring.

Upon release the wine is bright ruby in colour. There is a teasing array of vibrant red fruit on the nose including raspberry, pomegranate, cherry and plum. Spice and herbal notes, as well as a savoury underlay, add to the wine's complexity. While the palate has generous fruit weight and velvety tannins, it is balanced with refreshing acidity and a structure that gives the wine classic North Canterbury tension and pinosity.

Bin 2 was first released in 1960, yet was discontinued in Australia in the 1970s at the height of the white wine boom. The original Bin 2 was an 'Australian Burgundy' style (despite its Rhône varieties) - typically a soft, medium-bodied wine based on Shiraz. The Bin 2 blend of Shiraz and Mataro is still relatively uncommon in Australian table wines. Also known as Monastrell or Mourvèdre, Mataro was introduced to Australia in the 1830s. Sometimes used in fortified wine production, this grape is widely planted in the Barossa Valley. It is greatly valued by winemakers for its blending attributes, adding complexity and palate grip.

The climate of the Barossa Valley is not dissimilar to the warm, dry regions of Europe where the origins of the Grenache can be traced. The region is held in very high regard for this varietal and boasts some of the oldest vines in Australia. The 2024 Bin 21 release immediately captivates with a bright and alluring perfume of floral notes and exotic spice. With fruit sourced from Barossa Valley and McLaren Vale, it delivers a harmonious balance of freshness and structure. A distinctive minerality immediately strikes the palate, a signature of the terroirs from which this Grenache hails. The acid is crunchy and invigorating, laying the foundation for a blend of red fruits that dance across the palate. Blueberry tart brings a balance of sweetness and acidity. The texture of the palate is notable, with papery tannins, suggesting an elegant and refined structure. These fine tannins contribute to the wine's mouthfeel, providing a satisfying chewiness without overpowering the delicate fruit profile. This wine is a testament to the varietal's potential for both finesse and power, capturing the essence of its origins, offering a tasting experience that is both refreshing and complex.
